Meet the 6th grade Assistant Principal Melinda Lawson
My name is Melinda Lawson and I am the sixth grade assistant principal at Henderson Middle School. Welcome to the 2022-2023 academic school year! I am looking forward to working with my new team and our sixth graders as they embark on this journey through middle school.
This year they're going to learn a lot about meeting new friends, having several classes, gaining independence while moving about our building, and even using lockers! This is all going to be an adventure to say the least.
I'm looking forward to working closely with our staff and parents this year but most importantly, our growing warriors! I am excited to be involved with all of the opportunities Henderson has to offer our students with the implementation of Project Based Learning and our STEM Academy.
I have a total of 27 years of experience in education with many more to go! My journey has taken me from an English teacher, literacy coach, and now a new role as your assistant principal here at Henderson!
Welcome again to the 2022-2023 academic school year!

Meet the 8th Grade Assistant Principal Sharne’ Francis
Dear Henderson Middle School Family,
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as your new assistant principal of Henderson Middle School. I am humbly honored and thrilled to join the Warrior community. I cherish the opportunity to give back to a new community of learners through servant leadership, high expectation, inclusivity and care. I join you in partnership bringing 11 years of service as an educator and instructional leader. I have spent 9 years as a middle school mathematics teacher addressing individual student instructional needs by creating multi-level curriculum plans, organizing remediation efforts, instructional camps and student support groups. As an Instructional Coach, I increased student performance levels by monitoring instruction and overseeing school improvement to ensure all students received a quality education. In addition to instructional leadership, I remained focused on the whole student mindset by integrating character education with real-world connections providing opportunities of reflection while working as an administrator.
As my responsibilities consist of implementing RPS instructional goals and overseeing the daily operations of the school, I believe my primary responsibility is to serve as a voice and advocate for your child to achieve the best possible academic success. In order to accomplish this task bestowed upon me, I plan to uplift our teachers by equipping them with tools needed to succeed such as up to date research-based resources aligned with purposeful professional development to ensure proper implementation. I believe that these efforts will trickle down from our teachers to our students and maximize success. I don’t take this opportunity for granted to work not only with your children navigating them along their educational journey, but with all stakeholders in the Henderson community.
My goal is to encourage a safe community of high expectation, respect, academic achievement, and self-control while working together with all stakeholders to foster effective long-lasting relationships. My vision for Henderson Middle School is to continue fostering a community where all students excel academically, mentally, and physically possessing a life ready mindset with career pathways outlined and explored prior to high school enrollment.
To ensure a smooth transition during the initial weeks of my arrival, I plan to schedule a series of virtual meet and greet sessions during the day and evening to accommodate parents. I believe that every student not only can and will learn but will rise to the level of expectation with proper support and collaboration. I look forward to meeting you and discussing any questions, concerns, or ideas about Henderson Middle you may have. Please don’t hesitate to step in to say hello or introduce yourself. Again, I am thankful and ready to incorporate my experiences and knowledge of what I have learned into action with you.
Best Regards,
Sharne’ Francis, Ed.S
