Dear Warriors,

Welcome to Henderson Middle School.  Whether you are an incoming 6th grader, an ambitious 7th grader, or an experienced 8th grade scholar, I would like to formally welcome you back home to Henderson Middle School.

I wanted to begin by saying how proud I am to have the opportunity to be your principal. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you as you make some of the biggest accomplishments of your life this school year. Middle School is a very special time in each student’s life, and we are blessed to have your family as part of our bigger Warrior Family to carry on the school Legacy.

Warriors Today, Leaders tomorrow!!

Meet the 6th grade Assistant Principal Matthew Parker

Hello Warrior Nation! My name is Mr. Parker and I am thrilled to be the new Henderson assistant principal. I am a born and raised Indiana Hoosier who has made his way to Richmond through Northern Virginia. I began my time in Nova working in Fairfax County Public Schools teaching elementary general education, special education, and advanced academics at McNair Elementary School for four years. I then spent a year teaching 8th grade Social Studies in Southeast Washington D.C. at Sousa Middle School for D.C Public Schools. From there I returned to Fairfax and was the Social Studies Department Chair teaching at the Fairfax Juvenile Detention Center for five years. I wrapped up my career in Fairfax the past two years as a Dean of Students for Justice High School.

I hold an Elementary Education Degree from Indiana University as well as a Masters of Educational Leadership from George Mason University. When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my fantastic wife and two year old daughter exploring the city. I also enjoy playing music, longboarding, and kayaking. Fun fact…I was a guitar player and singer in a touring band with a record contract for five years in the early 2000’s and even lived in Hollywood for a year. I can’t wait to meet all of the families and students in the Warrior community. I am an extremely social person so please always feel free to speak with me.

I am a firm believer that education is an active and engaging experience and needs to be relevant to students. I am excited to be involved with all of the opportunities Henderson gives students to learn in meaningful ways using Project Based Learning and our STEM Academy. We are raising up critical thinkers and communicators with a Global Perspective. Warriors today, leaders tomorrow.

Please don’t be a stranger and let’s have an unbelievable school year on the Northside!

Meet the 7th Grade Assistant Principal SheAnna McCloud

I am passionate about teaching and learning, I have dedicated the majority of my professional career to science education and teacher training at secondary level. I completed both my Bachelors of Science in Biology in December 2012 and my Masters in Teaching degree in May 2013 at Virginia Commonwealth University. In August 2018, I completed my Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Richmond and I am ready to serve our students, teachers, parents and community.

It is my goal to help cultivate a love for STEM for our students, and I am dedicated to ensuring students have every opportunity possible to develop the 21st century skills necessary to prepare our students for the future!

Meet the 8th Grade Assistant Principal Rickey Eley

Dear Warrior Family:

It is with pleasure that I welcome you to Thomas H. Henderson Middle School, Home of the Warrior!!!  It is my privilege to serve as your Assistant Principal for the 2021-2022 school year.  Our goal at Thomas H. Henderson Middle School is to challenge every student academically, to grow them socially, emotionally and to guide them in becoming critical thinkers and confident problem solvers.

Middle school is a critical time of growth and development.  We are preparing students for success in high school and the path they choose to take after high school.  We pride ourselves on high expectations for ALL students and staff.  The Warrior staff works hard to adjust and deliver instruction that meets the academic needs of all our students.  Our goal is to partner with parents and community stakeholders to foster the growth of our students.  We strive to make school a safe and fun place for students to explore and grow.  There are multiple opportunities for students and families to have a voice in the education process here at Thomas H. Henderson Middle School.  We encourage all families to remain connected with our teachers, support staff and administrators at all time to ensure that each student is receiving what he/she needs to be successful.

I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the school year to provide a productive, safe learning environment that supports student achievement.  Let’s make this an awesome year full of Warrior pride and successes!
